Happy Earth Day! We got outside today to get lots of yard work completed now that spring is around. Some flowers are blooming in the garden and I wore shorts a few days ago. Lots of businesses are starting to open for the season so now is a great time to visit and beat the crowds. Check www.bayfield.org to find out the latest events and hot deals!

The time has come to move our new piano to its final destination in the living room. Though we have enjoyed its current dining room location, we must now expand the dining room table in anticipation of our main travel season. We would very much welcome a piano tuner here at HH, but for the time being, guests can enjoy my (out of tune) renditions of The Entertainer, Every Breath you Take, The Office Theme Song, and Moonlight Sonata. With some effort the ferry made it to and from Madeline Island today. The windsled will soon be docked until next winter. Check the ferry schedule and plan your trip to Madeline Island! http://www.madferry.com Now that spring is in the air, my heart has been filled with a sense of pride for this little town of Bayfield. Having said this, I would like to officially announce my candidacy for the Mayor of the town of Bayfield 2010. My campaign will be called "Bringing Bayfield Back." I am running on the idea that Bayfield history is so vastly important, that we should work not forward, but backwards to bring this town back to the logging mecca that it once was just over 100 years ago. I am calling for a total demolition of the downtown area and massive logging ventures in the hills North to Red Cliff and South to Washburn. In my master plan, the railroad will once again chug its way to the town harbor where we will ship logs and ice blocks down to Chicago. Ah, how beautiful it once was...and how beautiful it could be again! Of course, along with this we will give up electricity and the modern gasoline engine but I'm confident these changes will really accelerate our momentum in reverse. Let's take this recession full speed behind! I'm counting on the support of the Harbor Hill community, happy April! Were you fooled? Thanks. The sound of the windsled lets us know spring is here, but this morning we woke up to the sound of plows and salt trucks and once again winter is back. We are happy to report Harbor Hills newest addition...a striking Hamilton piano. Not only does it look great inside, but we feel excellent that our piano moving skills were sharp enough to successfully push it up the front porch stairs rather than watch it roll gracefully away into lake Superior. http://www.jsonline.com/news/wisconsin/37777854.html |
